Mr Fogg's

Mayfair, London

Mr Fogg’s in Mayfair is one of four venues within a group of cocktail bars using the same Mr Fogg’s moniker.

The bar is stuffed full of artefacts and collectables from the time the fictional character Phileas Fogg made a £20,000 wager he could circumnavigate the world in 80 days or fewer – just some of the crazy shenanigans people got up to before the internet.

There are four cocktail bars using Mr Fogg’s name, including a separate tavern and gin parlour in Covent Garden, a botanical house in Fitzrovia and Mr Fogg’s Residence in Mayfair, which has made it onto the Top 50 Cocktail Bars list this year.

His residence opens from 5.01pm Monday to Wednesday (closing at 1.01am), 4.01pm Thursday and Friday (closing at 2.01am), 1.31pm on a Saturday (closing at 2.01am) and 3.01pm on Sunday with a 12.01am finish.

You’re asked to “dress suitably attired in an informal but elegant manner”.

At the weekend, you’re able to book a ‘Tipsy Tea’ for £40 per person, which consists of Champagne and gin, which are served alongside sandwiches and cakes.

The Tipsy Tea menu is served in an elegant and quirky manner befitting the surroundings, which forces you to become part of the cocktail bar’s vibe.

Evening drinks can also be booked, with a minimum spend of £25 per person and for groups of up to eight people. But you can also just walk in and be seated.

A private outdoor space can also be hired for up to 20 guests, with cocktails taking inspiration from herbs and vegetables.

Don’t be fooled by the twee and theatrical surroundings, cocktails in no way play second fiddle to the décor, theme and the drama of the staff.

Cocktails include twists on classics to those that follow the storyline of the venue, but we’re not going to give away the surprise – it’s up to you to discover that.
