World class tipples and a trip back in time in Birmingham’s centre

Great atmosphere and world class cocktails are promised at Fox & Chance in Birmingham’s city centre, which opened its doors in September 2021.

The bar on Pinfold Street has previously run whisky and cheese evenings, and every Sunday is Classic Sunday, where two classic cocktails are up for grabs for £6 each.

You can take a seat at the bar or recline on one of the venue’s comfy sofas for an experience that is sophisticated but laid-back in equal measure. Teal green walls and framed pieces of quirky art add to the cool, bohemian vibe.

Cocktails include the Rum Rum Plum, which at £10 is a lively and vibrant tipple that mixes Plantation rum with plum and sparkling red wine.

There’s an array of eclectic flavours to suit every palette: the Irish Coffee made from Jameson Caskmate, Demarara, coffee and cream is smooth and rich, while the Tom Collin’s mix of Beefeater gin, lemon and soda is described as crisp and refreshing. Cocktails won’t break the bank at Fox & Chance with most modestly priced under a tenner.

The Winter Adonis is perfect for colder months, featuring a mix of walnut, Oloroso sherry and maple and orange.

The bar’s name and trusty mascot Charlie the Fox were inspired by the Chance Brothers and Charles Fox who were big names in helping to spur the city’s development and were associated with Birmingham’s railway.

The city’s history is also reflected in the bar’s décor. The West Midlands rail line map has inspired the bathroom, in which copper details and a bespoke lighting feature are placed next to classic subway titles.
