The Wildcat is a classic cocktail bar and a neighbourhood venue in the heart of Toll Cross in Edinburgh.

Tucked away near the Kings Theatre, it opened in May 2021 and has proved to be a popular haunt with its low-lit vibe and intimate atmosphere. Toll Cross is an area south west of the centre of Edinburgh, which according to website Forever Edinburgh it is an area that has some “real gems” in terms of food and drink venues.

The Wildcat is run by two old school bartenders with a passion for good drinks - Will Ford and Cameron Howarth – serving cocktails, beer, wine and whisky.

Serving as a haunt not just for cocktail lovers but also the locals it serves innovative cocktails with exotic ingredients on the menu. Its Push The Button is made with El Jimador Reposado, Rabarbaro, Fig and Chocolate Mole and its Under The Bed with Courvoisier VSOP, Mandarine Napoleon, Rhum Agricole, Lemon, Orgeat and soda.

But the lovers of the classics need not despair as the bartenders will use their flair to pour these with finesse.  To make the drinks accessible there is usually something on the blackboard for around £5.

And the success of Wildcat is leading to more expansion for the owners in the city. They have opened a second venue called Satyr on Leith Walk which serves cocktails, craft beer and wines from small producers paired with delicious meat and cheese boards.

Will Ford has previously worked at the now closed Wildebeest Bar in Vancouver, Canada as well as Edinburgh’s award-winning restaurant and bar The Bon Vivant.  Cameron Howarth is originally from Cairns, Australia and has worked at 1806, the Melbourne cocktail bar.
