Those familiar with the history of the site will know it was once the place of the World’s Best Cocktail Bar Dandelyan but was closed before being regenerated as Lyaness.
The bar’s cocktails are driven by the team’s desire to source and use unusual ingredients, merging the alien and weird into something the delicious.
The layout of the bar is fresh and open, featuring gold, blue and silver fixtures, fittings and soft furnishings.
The cocktail menu is clean and simply designed, with one or two drinks per page featuring a line drawing that shows the style of glass a drink will be served in.
As there is so much space between the drinks on the menu, it is chunky. However, it has been carefully curated with each beverage earning its spot.
While many flock to the bar for cocktails, there’s so much more to Lyaness, including Sunday Lyan, which sees the talented team work with inspiring people from the drinks industry to create new flavours.
Also, is the venue’s popular Spirited Tea, which is a playful approach to the afternoon tea, offering a twist on a classic occasion with a “bold Lyan touch.” The menu features many classics, which have been twisted to the modern day, including pickled cucumber sandwiches and other delights that have been paired perfectly with cocktails.
The main cocktail menu, meanwhile, has featured notable serves including the Lo-Fi Hard-Shake, an alcohol-free drink, made using Compass Box, Artist’s Blend, Grass Amazake, fermented coconut and lemon; Im-perfect Martini is made with Discarded Grape Skin Vodka, Grass Amazake, Fierfield Birch and over-ripe nectarine; and the 1-Up is made using Three Spirit Livener, Grass Amazake and gentian and pine brew.
