“A stylish, but laid back slice of modern Australian life, Down Under in Manchester” sums Australasia up just nicely.
Is it an art gallery, a car park or an entrance to one of Spinningfield’s most happening cocktails bars? Well, fortunately it’s the latter.
An unassuming glass prism with a set of stairs is the only indication that something fantastic could be lurking below the streets of Manchester. After your descent, you enter a clean, modern bar lined with polished concrete and simple, light furniture.
“The bar boasts a list of expertly crafted, exclusive cocktails alongside all the classics and a wine list of impressive proportions,” says Australasia’s website.
“Service from the friendly and knowledgeable staff runs into the early hours against an eclectic backdrop of music created nightly by resident and guest DJs.
“A menu of tempura, sushi and sashimi is available in the bar at certain times and is open for drinkers and diners alike till 12midnight Sunday to Wednesday, 1am on Thursday and 3am Friday and Saturday.”
There’s a lot to choose from when you get to the cocktail menu, which is good for the adventurous, but bad for the indecisive. Our advice, just take the plunge and go for the first thing you see on opening Australasia’s cocktail book.
The restaurant follows the same style as the bar and is bright, clean and serves some delicious nosh too.
