Shush, Ex-Directory is a secret bar and you need a code to enter.
Enter the code and go through an old red phone box, which has been used by several minor Liverpool celebrities – just in case you’re interested.
Is this a sophisticated, jazz-infused bar with chilled vibes where you’ll be able to sip a dry Martini with an olive? No.
Ex-Directory is a cocktail bar for those who want a different kind of good time, and that’s not to be sniffed at.
That said, the bar has been thoughtfully designed, with no expense spared on the plush seating areas, tables and the lighting.
The cocktail menu is, and we mean this in a good way, the definition of disco, filled with drinks named Pearl Necklace, Who the F**K is Alice? and Little Fluffy Clouds.
A selection of four sharing cocktails start the menu and are priced at between £20 and £75 – depending on your choice of Champagne or Prosecco in two of them.
Classic cocktails include the Bellini, French Martini, Espresso Martini and the Porn Star Martini.
House specials included The Three Graces, priced at £10 and made with gin, pear and grapefruit sorbet and prosecco.
Or there’s the Lady Penelope, made using rhubarb gin, port, pineapple and a chaser of pink Prosecco.
